Facing the historic 2022 elections in Brazil and its path to the second round, the director of the Brazilian Studies program at Oxford University, Andreza Aruska de Souza Santos, expressed that «the probability that the doubtful votes go to Lula is higher, but, Bolsonaro has a very large number of people who vote for him without declaring the vote».

In that sense, Souza Santos recommends that «political analysts around the world will have to sit and watch, because right now it is very difficult to say who is going to win these elections».
However, with 99.9 % of votes counted, the highest popular support with 48.43 % was obtained by the former president, Lula Da Silva, 5 points above Jair Bolsonaro, who had 43.2 %.
Consequently, more than 156 million Brazilians were called to vote in the elections to choose their next president, in addition to 13 federal deputies, 27 senators, 27 governors, as well as hundreds of state and Federal District deputies; with an evident Brazilian polarization that fragments two sides of a coin: the ultra-right, and the left that is presented as a favorite before this second round with Lula da Silva, candidate of the Workers’ Party.
After the first results were released, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was the first to express confidence that the second round would turn in his favor.
In the event that the former Brazilian president is the winner of what is the most even dispute in the Latin American country since 1989, it would consolidate the turn of the left, undertaken in Latin America several years ago.

The two tendencies are awaiting the second round of voting: Bolsonaro, who surprised with his results, but many present doubts about the reliability of his government; and on the other hand, Lula da Silva, has a significant advantage for the second round, which will take place on October 30.
