A high delegation from the Government of Nicaragua is carrying out a visit to Palestine, where it has highlighted Nicaraguan solidarity with the Middle Eastern country, in the face of Israeli aggression in Gaza.

“Comrade Denis Moncada, Chancellor of the Republic of Nicaragua, conveyed the fraternal greetings of President Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Vice President Rosario Murillo, expressing Solidarity with the Families of the Martyrs. Also reiterating the support of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, with the Palestinian Cause”, the statement from the Nicaraguan State quoted.

Furthermore, he emphasized: “The Mission of our Chancellor and the Delegation of our People and Government is to convey the most Fraternal and Combative Solidarity, from the historical relations of struggle, between Heroic Palestine and Always Free Nicaragua, expressing them directly in that Sacred Land, as manifestation of Heroism and Dignity that has united us in all Battles, towards all Victories”.

The high delegation of the Latin American nation is headed by the chancellor, Denis Moncada; accompanied by the parliamentarian, Wilfredo Navarro, president of the Palestine Friendship Group; and by the minister advisor to the president for International Relations, Orlando Tardencilla.

Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shatyyeh welcomed the visit and shared details “about the illegal Israeli occupation of West Bank territory, where around 40 % of the territory is under occupation by settlers or Zionist military, housing more than 285 colonies and approximately 755,000 illegal Jewish settlers”.

He expressed: «It is necessary to continue promoting a definitive ceasefire, bring humanitarian aid across all the borders of the Gaza Strip and provide medical supplies to more than 60,000 Palestinians who suffer from some illness or consequences of the brutal and criminal Israeli aggression”.

The Palestinian Foreign Minister, Al-Malki, thanked the presence of the Nicaraguan delegation and highlighted that “Nicaragua is the first People and Government to visit Palestine in support and solidarity with Palestine in the face of the current situation in the Country”, according to the statement issued by the Nicaraguan authorities.

Likewise, the representative of Palestinian diplomacy denounced that “the daily incursions of armed settlers and Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank have intensified,” leaving 240 dead and thousands of illegally detained. Furthermore, he warned that Israel intends to forcibly displace and/or exterminate the Palestinian people, “to destroy the Independent, Free and Sovereign Palestinian State”.

Al-Malki specified: “The political solution to put an end to the current situation must be based on negotiations between the Palestinian State and the State of Israel, until reaching the recognition of the State of Palestine, and subject to the resolutions of 1967, with Jerusalem. “East as its Capital, and its full integration into the United Nations Organization and International Organizations”.

The written statement from Nicaragua detailed that the delegation was received by its ambassador, Roberto Jose Morales, and that they developed an agenda that included meetings with Dr. Mohammad Shatyyeh, prime minister of the Palestinian State; Foreign Minister Riad Al-Malki; and with the president of Palestine and the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmoud Abbas.

In this regard, he specified that they will also have meetings with Rawhi Fatooh, president of the Palestinian National Council (PNC); with the authorities of the National Movement for the Liberation of Palestine (FATAH); and they will visit families and the Commander Yasser Arafat Museum, to “pay respects to that Historical Leader.”
