Government of Nicaragua presents Partnership Alliances as a new approach for non-governmental organizations.

Nicaragua implements Association Alliances to regulate the operation of NGOs.

The Nicaraguan government implemented a new regulation, which states that non-governmental organizations (NGOs) must collaborate directly, through Association Alliances, with state entities.

The Government of Nicaragua informed the Nicaraguan people that “from now on the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Nicaraguan territory will be governed by a new model of operation that we have characterized as Alliances of Association” the Nicaraguan government’s statement reads.

From now on, the interaction between the State and these organizations will be governed by a new mechanism called Partnership Alliances. Each NGO should submit a project proposal to the Government for its implementation.

New approach to ensure harmony between Nicaraguan NGOs and laws

The provisions include the need for government approval for NGO work plans and projects, as well as the elimination of tax exemptions for NGOs.
