The Government of Nicaragua urged action to strengthen integration into the SICA.
The Nicaraguan government has urgently called on the member countries of the Central American Integration System (SICA) to take concrete decisions to strengthen regional unity.
In a recent statement, he emphasized the lack of consensus at the last meeting of foreign ministers regarding the General Secretariat of the SICA, a position that Nicaragua maintains must occupy in institutional law.
The meeting concluded without agreement due to ongoing consultations among the Governments of the region. We reiterate that every day that passes without a General Secretariat, the SICA is further weakened. This causes each country to logically seek alternative mechanisms to manage its affairs unilaterally, the statement notes.
In addition, it was warned that this situation could lead to the – progressive impoverishment of regional management, limiting the effectiveness of our actions from a perspective of integration and union, says Nicaragua’s official document.
