Millions of fish appeared dead in Australia due to the heat wave that the country is facing, and authorities say this is a phenomenon related to flooding and hot weather.
The deaths of fish are likely caused by low oxygen levels as the floodwaters receded, a situation made worse by fish needing more oxygen due to the warmer weather, according to the Department of Primary Industries.

«The current hot weather in the region exacerbates hypoxia, as warm water contains less oxygen than cold water, and fish need more oxygen at higher temperatures,» the local government explained.
Residents have complained of the terrible smell of dead fish, and have tried to clean up because of the growing rot and some rivers have been blocked.
