Nicaragua launches a National Vaccination Campaign against many diseases.
Nicaragua is carrying out the «National Vaccination Campaign» during April 2024, in which more than 2.4 million doses of vaccines will be administered free of charge, to prevent around 16 diseases.
The launch of this initiative, through the Ministry of Health (MINSA) of Nicaragua, took place at Roberto Huembes Park in the capital city of Managua of the Latin American nation, where the first doses were administered to children.
Meyling Mora, in charge of the Expanded Immunization Program, told local media that «on this day, we have a goal of 517,000 doses of vaccines that will be applied to children from 0 years old and elderly adults aged 55 and over.»
Additionally, it was informed that during medical consultations, people will be able to get vaccinated at health posts. The door-to-door strategy will also be implemented, where health personnel will travel to ensure that all residents receive the vaccine, even in the most remote locations.

Among the vaccines to be administered are the polio, pentavalent, rotavirus, 13-valent pneumococcal, DPT, MMR, DT, 23-valent pneumococcal, and MMR for children aged 2 to 4 years old, as well as the Covid-19 vaccine for the population aged 12 and above.
