Israel receives funding from the United States and European countries to carry out the massacre of thousands of civilians in the Gaza Strip, Ortega says.
Nicaragua’s president, Daniel Ortega Saavedra, condemned Israel’s attacks on Palestinian territory, where thousands of civilians, mostly children and women, are being killed in the Gaza Strip, with the financial backing of the United States and European countries.
«The Government of Israel acting like the Nazis, a Government of Israel that is supported by the U.S. Government, which is armed by the U.S. government, which is supported and armed by European governments…,» Ortega said.

Protests in Israel over a ceasefire
The Sandinista leader also emphasized the massive protests that have recently taken place in Israel demanding a ceasefire.

Nicaragua and the demand for genocide
In February 2024, Nicaragua joined South Africa’s lawsuit before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing Israel of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

In its request, Nicaragua urged the judges to recognize that Israel is in breach of its obligations under the Genocide Convention and to demand that it stop the acts resulting in the loss of lives of thousands of Palestinians.

According to Gaza authorities, 40,405 murders have been recorded so far, approximately thousands of people missing and 93,468 injured since the beginning of Israeli hostilities in October 2023.
