Nicaragua makes citizens elected official in the Regional Elections, held on March 3.

The authorities of the Electoral Power of Nicaragua officially proclaimed the citizens who were elected in the 2024 Regional Elections, to occupy the positions of the Councils of the Autonomous Regions of the Caribbean Coast in the Latin American nation.

The Supreme Electoral Council of Nicaragua published «in La Gaceta, Official diary, the Proclamation of the Elected Citizens in the 2024 Regional Elections, who will assume the 180 positions of Members (including Owners and Alternates) of the Regional Councils of the Autonomous Regions of the North and South Caribbean Coast,” according to the press release issued by the Nicaraguan institution.

Sandinista Front Alliance wins Regional Elections 

In this electoral process, the Sandinista National Liberation Front Alliance was positioned as the winner with 88.71% of valid votes, evidencing broad support from the Caribbean citizens of Nicaragua.

In that sense, the Supreme Electoral Council (SEC) of Nicaragua, stated that in use of the powers granted to it by the Political Constitution of the Republic, Law No. 331, Electoral Law; and Law No. 28, Statute of Autonomy of the Regions of the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua; resolved that, «the terms referred to in the Electoral Law having expired, those Published in the Gazette, Official Gazette, Number 43, on March 6, two thousand and twenty-four, are declared as Final Results.»

Taking this argument into account, the SEC proceeded to the Proclamation of Elected Men and Women “in office to Members of the Regional Councils of the North and South Caribbean Coast of the country”, after the Elections of last March 3.

The electoral authorities, in their statement, stressed that “they confirmed the observance and full guarantee of the fundamental principles and values, such as free elections, respect for political-electoral rights; free, secret and direct suffrage; that the results of the election faithfully reflected the free determination of the voters, respecting at all times the decision of the citizens.”
