Nicaragua condemns US accusations of terrorism against Cuba.

Nicaragua expressed its firm rejection of the inclusion of the Republic of Cuba in the list of «State Sponsors of Terrorism» by the United States.

Through an official statement issued by the Nicaraguan National Assembly (Parliament), «Nicaragua reaffirmed its solidarity with the Cuban people and government,» calling this action «unjust and unfounded.»

«We reject and condemn these unilateral measures and urge the international community to work together to build a multipolar world that is more just and peaceful for all, respecting the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples,» Nicaragua’s statement said.

In its statement, the State of Nicaragua stressed that these measures constitute a «criminal action» and describes the blockade as an «act of genocide» against the Cuban people.

Nicaragua concludes by denouncing the «imperialist and destructive» policy of the United States, which imposes an «inhuman and cruel blockade,» threatening the development and well-being of the Caribbean nation.

It should be noted that the United States designates as «Countries Sponsors of International Terrorism» those nations that, according to the US government, provide «financial, logistical or material support to terrorist groups.»

The designation involves the imposition of economic sanctions and diplomatic restrictions on these countries, limiting their access to foreign aid, trade and military assistance. The list has at various times included nations such as Iran, North Korea, Syria and Cuba.
