Nicaragua’s Co-President Rosario Murillo announced that the National Assembly has begun special meetings with the Supreme Electoral Council (SEC) to advance reforms aimed at strengthening the legal framework governing the country’s electoral processes.
She also stated that special sessions will be held with the different institutions to guarantee “the constitutional, legal and procedural steps that will provide the foundation for the reforms to be implemented.»
According to the announcement, these actions seek to establish «a legal framework and institutional mechanisms that guarantee the juridical foundations of this fundamental aspect of the country’s institutional system and uphold the democratic, sovereign, and free political practices that govern our national and local elections

IN PEACE AND UNITY
The National Assembly of this Sovereign, Blessed, Forever Dignified and Free Nicaragua informs the Nicaraguan People that, further to the Statements of the Head of State, Comandante Daniel Ortega, relating to the Political Processes of Nicaragua and Nicaraguans, to ensure Peace, Security, Stability and the continuity of the achievements to combat Poverty, it is beginning the necessary analysis to develop a plan of work in compliance with Presidential guidance.
The National Assembly will hold Special Sessions with the Supreme Electoral Council, to ensure the constitutional, legal and formal steps which will serve as the basis of the reforms, for a State and for ways ahead that guarantee the legal supports of this transcendent aspect of institutionality, and sustain the political, democratic, sovereign and free practice of the processes for the election of our national and local authorities.
The National Assembly is convening to fulfill the mandates received on July 19th, the 47th Anniversary of the Triumph of Democracy and Freedom in Nicaragua.
The sovereignty of our People and of our Country is a matter for Nicaraguans.
