Israel violates sovereignty and international law by attacking Syria, says Nicaraguan government.

The Nicaraguan government, through a letter, demanded respect for the Republic of Syria, condemning the terrorist attack perpetrated by the Israeli regime against Syria, which killed 18 people and left 37 wounded, which constitutes a violation of international law and the sovereignty of the Arab country.

«The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua firmly condemns the flagrant disrespect for international law and violation of the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter by Israel, by attacking the Syrian Arab Republic on September 8, killing 18 brothers of the Syrian people and violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this sister country,» Nicaragua’s written communication quoted.

The government, headed by Daniel Ortega, also urged compliance with the principles established in the United Nations Charter.

«We advocate unrestricted respect for the United Nations Charter and its principles, which the peoples of the world are calling for, so that peace, justice and hope may prevail,» the letter from the Central American country stated.

Nicaragua warns of consequences for interventionist actions

Nicaragua “warns again that these actions of destabilization and interference will only bring dangerous consequences for the region and the world.”

At the same time, the Nicaraguan government expressed its solidarity with the Syrian government and with the families of the victims of Israel’s hostilities.

«Our government expresses our firm solidarity with the government of the Syrian Arab Republic and the families of the 18 martyrs and 37 wounded victims of this criminal terrorist attack, and our rejection of this type of ignoble act, detrimental to peace,» added the Nicaraguan statement.

Israeli siege in Syria

The Syrian state news agency SANA reported that Israeli airstrikes in central Syria on Sunday night, September 8, killed more than a dozen people and injured nearly 40 others.

«The Israeli enemy launched an air attack from the direction of northwestern Lebanon, targeting several military sites in the central region,» Syrian news agency SANA quoted a military source as saying.
