Nicaraguan Co-President Rosario Murillo said that those who criticize the constitutional reforms are the same who “had betrayed Nicaragua” and accused them of running a campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting the process.
«Who believes them? What is their truth? The truth is their lack of patriotism. They do not love Nicaragua, and everyone knows it. They have betrayed Nicaragua, and everyone knows it. That is the true truth,» she said.
Murillo also claimed that there is an organized effort to distort her statements and spread false information regarding the constitutional reform proposals.
“They have one saying what one has not said, they falsify the words, they falsify the messages that one delivers, in an attempt to disqualify, to discredit, but who is going to believe such outrageous claims? Who is going to believe them? They have lied repeatedly and tried to create narratives based on falsehoods. The truth is something they simply cannot establish,» she said.
Co-President Rosario Murillo stated that the campaigns promoted by sectors that have acted against Nicaragua’s interests will not succeed in stopping the consultation process or the country’s progress.
In this context, referring to the campaign of lies by the opponents of the reforms, she stated: “Those, the puppet factory, the stupidity, the nonsense, all of those go down the drain just like all the garbage goes, even if the drains get clogged; here we have the bad habit of putting garbage down the drains. Those drains that are special drains that collect all the garbage and take it away, especially the garbage represented by those who… those who pour those wastes, they are waste, they are garbage, traitors to the homeland,” she expressed.
In contrast, she maintained that the Nicaraguan people continue moving forward in peace, security, progress, and stability through the national consultation on the proposed constitutional reforms.
Murillo defended the consultation process and rejected claims that the reforms eliminate elections.
The Co-President highlighted that the consultation has included the Nicaraguan Army, the National Police, the Ministry of the Interior, the accredited diplomatic corps, the financial, business, and productive sectors, journalists, municipal governments, regional authorities of the Caribbean Coast, Indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants, and deputies to the Central American Parliament.
“Listening to one another, loving one another, and that is the real truth,” she stated while highlighting the scope of the process.
Murillo reaffirmed that “it is the people who hold the keys to deciding our path toward peace, stability, security, and prosperity,” insisting that the national consultation strengthens the leading role of the people in shaping Nicaragua’s future.
